LCU Featured on Amazon Prime
LCU was chosen to be a part of a series featured on Amazon Prime, and today, people around the world have a chance to see for themselves what makes this place so special.
In October, Alex Boylan, host and creator of The College Tour, brought his film crew to Lubbock to capture in students’ own words what the LCU experience is all about. Boylan created the series after watching his niece navigate the tough choice of where she would attend college during the pandemic—her inability to visit a variety of campuses and get an informed perspective on her options sparked an idea in Boylan. The following year, The College Tour was born, and in Summer of 2024, he and campus leaders began discussing what it might look like to feature LCU on the show.
Just months after those initial conversations, the crew arrived on campus. “We’re here all week long, filming with the amazing students here—and they’re real students, and real stories,” Boylan said. “We’re just excited to bring this institution and the all the amazing history and everything that’s happening here, to bring it to life in a different way through the students’ lens and share that with the world.”

The College Tour shared the LCU experience not through the words of administrators, faculty, or staff, but instead in the words of the students themselves. Hagen Sage, Kieryn Moffat, Esmeralda Estrada, Rebecca Kimani, Julius Nganele, Jaivan Alvarez, Kennedy Chappell, Lilly Sowell, Rebekah McCord, and Tye Kasten all lent their voices and stories to help tell a global audience about ten different aspects of college life at LCU.
“When I first came to college, I had no clue what it was going to look like, who I was going to be friends with, or which organizations I was going to be a part of,” Alvarez, a junior accounting and finance major, shared. “I think just to experience all of it, being able to be on camera and have some of my friends be on there with me and just get to promote what I truly believe in, that’s LCU’s community and how they’ve taken care of me as a first-generation student.”
Lily Sowell, a senior biochemistry major, shared how her passion for science and research came to life at LCU. “When I was deciding on a university, it was important to me to be surrounded by faculty who would take a vested interest in my growth and help expose me to opportunities to perform scientific research. Normally, research of the caliber I’m talking about happens at the graduate level, but LCU’s commitment to undergraduate research and the student experience has opened incredible experiences for me.”

Kennedy Chappell, a sophomore Pre-Vet major and member of the women's basketball team, shared how with premiere facilities, extraordinary coaches, and high-achieving student athletes, LCU was the perfect fit for her.
“I always knew I wanted to play basketball in college and compete for championships, especially at a place that glorified the Lord,” Chappell shared. “Never in a million years did I think I would find the perfect fit, but that’s exactly what I found at LCU.”
Boylan said he could feel the LCU community from the first day he stepped on campus. “Everyone is so friendly, and I think just that open, welcoming spirit . . . I know the tagline here is ‘We Walk with You.’ But I feel like it’s not just the institution—that’s happening from student to student, peer to peer, which is pretty powerful,” he said.
The episode aired as a part of season 14 of the show, premiering across the world in March, and to celebrate, LCU hosted a Blue Carpet Premiere event. Boylan himself was in attendance, and the event also honored the ten outstanding students who were featured in the episode. The evening included a screening of the 30-minute episode about LCU, followed by a brief Q&A with the those ten students.

Jody Reding, the vice president for Enrollment Management at LCU, explained that more than 60,000 high school counselors across the country utilize the TV series to help their students decide their futures—she hopes being featured will bring more of them to LCU.
“We’re hopeful that more students that see the episode come visit the campus and meet our vibrant faculty, tour, and get to see all of the opportunities that they have here,” she said. “We think LCU is the best place on earth, so we’re anxious to share that with everyone else.”
Boylan shared, “While I was on the LCU campus with our film crew, I was very impressed with the personal engagement I witnessed between the students, faculty, and staff. I could truly sense that LCU’s brand promise – We Walk with You – was being authentically lived out right in front of me. I loved spending time on their campus, and I came away thinking – ‘LCU is a really special place.’”
LCU’s episode of The College Tour can be streamed through Amazon Prime, but the full episode is also live on our The College Tour webpage, where each student’s featured section is also available to watch.
