With Gratitude for What God Is Doing at LCU

At Lubbock Christian University, every season offers fresh reminders of God’s faithfulness. As I reflect on the months behind us and look ahead with hope, I am deeply grateful for the many ways He continues to bless this campus and the people who call it home. From historic milestones to quiet, formative moments that shape hearts and lives, we see His hand at work in ways both visible and profound.
This academic year has been marked by significant moments in the life of our university, from a record-setting freshman class and vibrant residential life to the dedication of the Griffin Family Training Center in support of our student-athletes and the graduation of our first doctoral class. Each milestone reflects our commitment to forming students through faith, community, and excellence.
In this issue of Reflections, you will see how that commitment is lived out across our campus. We honor the extraordinary legacy of Dr. Don “Doc” Williams, whose lifelong dedication to LCU has shaped generations of students through creativity, mentorship, and faith. You will read about students engaging deeply with Scripture through our Bible core and ministry programs, faculty modeling integrity and compassion as they guide students academically through research conducted with care, ethical responsibility, and respect for human dignity.
You will also encounter stories that reflect the heart of the LCU experience, the deep relationships formed here that endure well beyond a student’s time on campus. Whether through shared brotherhood and tradition, faculty walking alongside students through seasons of grief and growth, or alumni who have followed God’s calling into aviation, these stories remind us that education at LCU is never merely academic. It is personal, relational, and transformational.
LCU continues to thrive not simply because of facilities, programs, or accomplishments, but because of a community rooted in faith and united by a shared mission. I am grateful for our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends who faithfully support this work through prayer, generosity, and service. May we continue to give God all the praise as we prepare hearts and minds to serve Him faithfully, wherever He may lead.
With gratitude,

Scott McDowell, Ed.D.
